Last summer I attended the 15th annual Aspen Institute Roundtable on Information Technology, taking part in a discussion about the Mobile Generation. More than two dozen participants (pictured above) examined the profound changes ahead as a result of the convergence of wireless technologies and the Internet. Plus, it was great fun hanging out with all these big thinkers

The roundtable addressed the technological and behavioral changes already taking place in the United States and other parts of the world as a result of widespread and innovative uses of wireless devices, the trends in these behaviors especially with the younger generation, and what this could mean for life values in the coming decade. The roundtable tackled new economic and business models for communications entities, social and political ramifications, and the implications for leaders in all parts of the world. The 2006 Roundtable included 28 distinguished leaders from the fields of government, business, finance, academia and media

برنامه های تلویزیونی بر روی گوشی های تلفن همراه در ایران

برای نخستین بار در کشور صبح امروز پخش آزمایشی برنامه های تلویزیونی بر روی گوشی های تلفن همراه و گیرنده های متحرک با حضور رئیس سازمان صدا وسیمای جمهوری اسلامی ایران آغاز شد.

سیدعزت الله ضرغامی در هنگام افتتاح این طرح ملی در جمع خبرنگاران گفت: با بهره برداری از این سامانه در مرحله مقدماتی برنامه های ده شبکه تلویزیونی از جمله شبکه های یک تا چهار، تهران، شبکه قرآن، العالم، پرس تی وی، شبکه خبر و شبکه استانی آذربایجان غربی بر روی گیرنده های متحرک (داخل ماشین) و تلفن همراه ارسال و پخش خواهد شد. رئیس سازمان صدا و سیما افزود: برنامه های رادیو ایران، جوان، پیام و قرآن هم از طریق این سامانه قابل دریافت است. وی با اشاره به دیجیتالی بودن سامانه یادشده و کیفیت بالای تصاویر آن گفت: در حال حاضر فقط در شهر تهران امکان پخش برنامه های تلویزیونی بر روی گوشی های تلفن همراه وجود دارد و در نظر داریم در آینده ای نزدیک با همکاری استانداران و منابع محلی، آن را در سراسر کشور گسترش دهیم.
متخصصان معاونت توسعه و فناوری رسانه ملی، بررسی های اولیه خود را بر روی سامانه ارسال سیگنال دیجیتالی برنامه های تلویزیونی در گیرنده های متحرک وتلفن همراه برای انتخاب استاندارد پخش موبایل TV در سال 1384آغاز کردند و به دلیل استفاده از استاندارد DVB-T (استاندارد پخش تلویزیون دیجیتال که هم اکنون به طور آزمایشی از بعضی از ایستگاه های تهران ارسال می شود) بهترین گزینه را برای پخش تلویزیون، بر روی موبایل استاندارد DVB-H تشخیص دادند. در حال حاضر یک فرستنده با قدرت 3kw در ایستگاه جماران بدین منظور اختصاص دارد که بر روی کانال UHF-31 برای پخش DVB-H در نظر گرفته شده است. برنامه های موجود بر روی این فرستنده فقط بر روی گوشی های تلفن همراه خاص با توانایی دریافت استاندارد DVB-H قابل دریافت است. در حال حاضر 4 استاندارد مطرح برای پخش تلویزیون موبایل در دنیا شاملDVB-H ، T-DMB ، Media Flo و ISDB-T وجود دارد. بیشتر کشورهای آسیایی، اروپایی و افریقایی و حتی در امریکای شمالی (کانادا) و امریکای جنوبی استاندارد پخش DVB-H را برای پخش موبایل TV انتخاب کرده اند. در تعداد معدودی از شهرهای کشورهای جهان مانند سه شهر در فرانسه، دو شهر در آلمان و سراسر ایتالیا این سامانه به مرحله عملیاتی رسیده است. در منطقه خاورمیانه تنها قطر پخش موبایل TV با استاندارد DVB-H را آغاز کرده است.
